Mika Kares & Andreas Schager Headline New Götterdämmerung in Paris

Mika Kares appears as Hagen and Andreas Schager as Siegfried in Calixto Bieito’s new production of Wagner’s Götterdämmerung at the Opéra national de Paris, with performances on 8, 11 and 18 October.

Having previously performed the role of Fafner in the Ring cycle, Kares now takes on the role of Hagen, opposite Andreas Schager as Siegfried. So… after playing Fafner and facing Siegfried, Mika is now Hagen. And this time, he gets to kill Andreas.

The cast also features Johannes Martin Kränzle as Gunther, Brian Mulligan as Alberich, Tamara Wilson as Brünnhilde, Sinead Campbell Wallace as Gutrune and Eve-Maud Hubeaux as Waltraute.

Pablo Heras-Casado conducts this new Ring production, which continues in November with the complete Ring cycle, with all four operas presented together from 6 November.
