Natascha van Randenborgh

Associate Director

Natascha van Randenborgh was born in Hagen, Germany, and grew up in various cities across Germany. After graduating from the German School in Barcelona, she also completed the Spanish university entrance examination and studied classical singing privately in Barcelona.

Music was a natural and formative part of her life from the very beginning. Her parents met while studying singing in Karlsruhe, and her father was a member of the renowned St. Thomas Boys Choir in Leipzig. Their home was filled with singing, music-making and music listening; Natascha received her first piano lessons from her father. From an early age, she developed a particular sensitivity to voices and interpretations. The family held a subscription to the Gran Teatre del Liceu in Barcelona, making opera performances a regular part of everyday life. Particularly inspiring productions were often revisited from the Gallinero (“chicken coop”), the Liceu’s highest and least expensive tier of seating and a legendary meeting place for the most passionate opera lovers.

Natascha had her first experience on stage at the Liceu, appearing as one of the noble pages in Götz Friedrich’s production of Wagner’s Lohengrin. Before long, she was also performing on the Spanish concert scene. After moving back to Germany, she gained further experience in the opera world and sang in the opera chorus of Deutsche Oper am Rhein in Düsseldorf.

Her own experience as a singer, together with her intense engagement with voices, interpretations and the art of performance, continues to shape the way she views artists, their personalities and their careers. Eventually, this path led her into artist management. Today, together with her brother Boris Orlob, she runs the Berlin-based agency Boris Orlob Management.

Her curiosity, however, extends far beyond music. Through her father, who was also a passionate collector of art, she was introduced to the visual arts at an early age and developed an interest in a wide range of forms of cultural and creative expression. She is an avid reader, an enthusiastic podcast listener and curious about an exceptionally broad range of subjects. One constant throughout her life has been her love of dogs, from the very small to the very large; today, her companion is Schoko, a dachshund.

Through her Brazilian husband, Natascha discovered a passion for long-distance travel. Her favorite sport is tennis, although she follows sports in general with great enthusiasm — perhaps second only to music. Or, in the end, might cooking actually claim the number two spot?
