Biography

Ilya Silchuk begins his 2022-2023 season as a second year Young Artist with the Semperoper Dresden. His mainstage work in Staatsoper’s season includes singing Papageno in production of
The Magic Flute, Schaunard in La Boheme and Cithéron in Platée of Rameau. He also sings Kilian in Der Freischuetz and Prince Yamadori in Madama Butterfly next year.
From the beginning of 2021-2022 - is Ilya Silchuk Member of the Young Ensemble Semperoper Dresden. At the same time he is finishing his Bachelor’s degree at the Dresden University of
Music.

In 2022 he received the third prize at the Concorso Lirico Internazionale di Portofino. Summer 2021 received he a special prize from the Saxon State Opera Dresden at the Hans Gabor
Belvedere Competition in Erfurt. In 2021 he sang the role of Figaro in Le nozze di Figaro by W. A. Mozart in the PAMY media
production (Dornach/Switzerland).

Also in 2020, he became a Grant of the Ad Infinitum Fondation Luebeck. In 2020, Ilya Silchuk became the winner of the Wagner International Competition for Young Talents in Leipzig, and also received a Bayreuth Festspiel Grant. Also in 2019, he received second prize at the Giulio Perotti International Vocal Competition in the Bachelor category. As part of the university production of Gianni Schicchi by G. Puccini in 2019, he took on the role of Spinelloccio.
Since 2018, he has been studying singing in the class of Jörg Hempel at the Dresden University of Music.

Besides the classical music, Ilya Silchuk studied acting at the Boris Shchukin Theater Institute in Moscow, then worked for two years at the Vakhtangov Theater and the Theater of Film Artists in Moscow. His roles included Prince Nekhlyudov in Prince Nekhlyudov in Tolstoy's «Resurrection» and Andrei Ilyich, a notary public in Chekhov's «Misfortune».
