Biography

Tobias Berndt is a winner of several international awards and works as an acclaimed concert singer with conductors such as Hans-Christoph Rademann, Philippe Herreweghe, Helmuth Rilling, Frieder Bernius, Teodor Currentzis, Marcus Creed, and Andrea Marcon. Career milestones include a European Tour with Purcell’s Dido and Aeneas with Music Aeterna and Teodor Currentzis, the Saint Matthew Passion under the baton of Masaaki Suzuki at the Bachakademie in Stuttgart as well as under Andrea Marcon with the Danish National Symphony Orchestra in Copenhagen, and in addition, Gustav Mahlers' Kindertotenlieder under Toshiyuki Kamioka in Copenhagen, concerts at the Schwetzingen Festival performing works by C. Phil. Emanuel and J. S. Bach under Frieder Bernius, Händels‘ Joshua with the NDR Choir and the FestspielOrchester Göttingen under Laurence Cummings in Göttingen, Hamburg und London, as well as Brahms Requiem with Göteborgs Symfoniker under Herbert Blomstedt.  
 
In the past season, as well as in the current, Tobias Berndt will sing concerts with the Beethoven Orchester Bonn, the Moscow State Academic Philharmonic Society, the Gewandhausorchester Leipzig, the Bachakademie Stuttgart and the Freiburger Barockorchester, with De Nederlandse Bachvereniging, the Konzerthausorchester Berlin, the Collegium Vocale Ghent, the Dresden Philharmonics, and with the Bayerischer Rundfunk Symphonic Orchestra.

News

On tour through Europe
An exciting month lies ahead for Tobias Berndt. Joining renowned ensemble Collegium Vocale Gent and its conductor Philippe Herreweghe, the baritone goes on a large tour through Europe. On the program is Bach’s monumental St. Matthew Passion. The first concert will take place on April 7th in Antwerpen followed by concerts in Sevilla (8th), Madrid (9th), Munich (10th), Mechelen (11th), Paris (12th), Aix-en-Provence (14th) and lastly in Zurich on April 15th.
