Biography

Lothar Odinius is one of the most renowned concert- and opera singers of the recent generation of singers.  With a repertoire that ranges from Baroque to the Contemporary he has earned international reputation. He is a regular guest at all major international festivals and in all the important concert halls of Berlin, Vienna, Milan, London, and New York and works with conductors such as Ivor Bolton, Adam Fischer, Emmanuelle Haïm, Nikolaus Harnoncourt, Thomas Hengelbrock, Philippe Herreweghe, Andrew Manze, Sir Neville Marriner, Marc Minkowski, Kirill Petrenko, Hans-Christoph Rademann, Helmuth Rilling, András Schiff, Peter Schreier, Andreas Spering, Christian Thielemann, and Franz Welser-Möst.
 
He is equally at ease singing opera and guested at the most renowned opera houses such as the Zurich Opera House, the Royal Opera House Covent Garden, the Opéra National de Paris as well as at the Festivals in Schwetzingen, Glyndebourne, and Bayreuth. Central to his repertoire are all the important Mozart roles, from the lyric Tamino to the more dramatic Idomeneo.
 
Present and future engagements will lead Lothar Odinius, among many others, to the Schleswig-Holstein Music Festival (SHMF) with Haydn's Creation under Roger Norrington, with Mahler’s The Song of Mourning to Madrid, the St. John Passion under Thomas Hengelbrock to the Orchestre de Paris, with a Telemann/ Handel programme to the Staatskapelle Dresden, with the c-minor mass to the Vienna Konzerthaus, with the operetta  A Night in Venice to the Opéra de Lyon , with Monteverdi’s Ulysse under Emmanuelle Haïm to the Théâtre des Champs-Élysées, and under Thomas Hengelbrock and the NDR Elbphilharmonie Orchester with Wagner’s Rheingold to Hamburg, Dortmund, and Baden-Baden.

Together with world stars at the Théâtre des Champs-Élysées
In the great production Il Ritorno d'Ulisse in patria at the Théâtre des Champs-Élysées, Lothar Odinius will be on stage from 28th  February as Giove / Anfinomo with stars such as Rolando Villazón and Magdalena Kožená under the baton of Emmanuelle Haïm. In addition, this production will guest at the Opéra de Dijon (from 31st of March). Afterwards, his route leads north. On the 26th  and 27th  of May he will enthuse the audience of the Elbphilharmonie as Froh in concert performances of the opera Das Rheingold under the baton of Thomas Hengelbrock.
