Endrik Wottrich studied the violin and singing in Würzburg and was able to continue his development in singing at the prestigious Juilliard- School in New York because of a grant from the German Academic Foundation.
After his stage debut at the State Theatre in Wiesbaden as Cassio and during his engagement at the Staatsoper Berlin from 1993 to 1999, he gave his debuts at the Carnegie Hall, conducted by Nikolaus Harnoncourt and at the Bayreuther Festspiele as the Young Sailor in Tristan und Isolde and as David in Die Meistersinger von Nürnberg in 1996. Wottrich returned to the green hill not only for these roles, he also took over the roles of Walther von Stolzing, Erik and Parsifal.
Endrik Wottrich succeeded at the major opera houses around the world such as the Semperoper in Dresden, the Teatro alla Scala in Milan as Tannhäuser, at Covent Garden as Florestan in 2007, and in the role of the drum major at the Bavarian State Opera in Munich and in Tokyo. He also gave guest performances in Vienna, Tampere and Israel and regularly gave concerts with the most notable orchestras, including the Berlin Philharmonics, the Chicago Symphony Orchestra, and the Vienna Philharmonics. He worked with conductors such as Claudio Abbado, Daniel Barenboim, Zubin Mehta, Philippe Herreweghe, Riccardo Muti, and Christian Thielemann.
Besides being a singer and taking part in various recordings, Endrik Wottrich is a professor of singing at the Academy of Music in Würzburg since 2002.
A definite highlight of the recent past was his role of the drum major in a concert version of Wozzeck at the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam.
Current and future projects include Siegmund in the Walküre, conducted by Marc Minkowski in Poznan, as well as engagements in Berlin, Leipzig, and Mannheim.
In 2017, Endrik Wottrich will also be performing at the Volksoper Wien in La Wally (Alfredo Catalani) and at the Oper Leipzig in Salome (Richard Strauss).
